COYOTE BOOK CLUB

Picture
The second meeting of the WCHS Book Club will be December 16th at the WCHS Library from 2:30-3:15 p.m.  Come check out the good books, good snacks, and good company.

The WCHS Book Club is made up of students in grades 9-12. The club focuses on reading the 20 books nominated for the Tennessee Volunteer State Book Awards (VSBA), a list that is compiled by the Tennessee Association of School Librarians. We read and discuss these books throughout the school year to prepare for the annual CMCSS Battle of the Books in April at the downtown public library.

We also have fundraisers, assist our school's annual Scholastic Book Fair, promote reading programs, hold a Book Club t-shirt design competition, and an annual book exchange Christmas party in December and senior recognition party in May. If you'd like to join the club, see one of the librarians.

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books is an annual competition that takes place every spring between local high school book clubs at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. Book clubs send their top three readers to compete in a quiz bowl-style competition over the 20 books nominated for the annual Tennessee Volunteer State Book Award. Each high school's book club members  read these 20 books throughout the year. The winners go home with a trophy, free lunch at a restaurant, and a limo ride back to school with bragging rights until next year's competition.
